Role in cases
- The Corpse Which Smelled Right, Case #14 in Townville:
After going to Newville I to look for the thief Doodley, the police found a corpse in the mall's perfume shop. The victim turned out to be Herman Yoth and as Valerie worked there, she was added to the list of suspects and interrogated three times but she didn't say much so the team got practically nothing from her. Even with her strategy of remaining almost silent, the team discovered that she was the one who had killed Herman and arrested her.
Evan Day thought that Herman was in love with Valerie according to what he'd said to his friend Chandler Beemie, but when she was confronted for the murder Valerie said that what Herman felt for her was only desire and was far from love. He had stalked her some times before and she had started to feel threatened when she was around him, so the night of the murder, when she was about to leave the mall, she took the cash register to knock Herman out in case he tried to do something to her because she knew that he'd appear there to talk to her. He tried to rape her and to defend herself, she smashed his head with the register but her force was excessive and instead of passing out, Herman died. Judge Gonzalez sentenced her to 10 years and 6 months in jail with parole in 5 years.
