The Nut-Exploiter is a case featured in Criminal Case as the fifty-first of the game. It is the third one that takes place at Odyssey Gardens in New Cresthill.

Plot

On the day of the Nutcracker performance, Detheroc, Rachel, and the player were escorting Mayor Brooks at the theater. Suddenly, everything stopped when the ballet dancer Ivan Carter ended up with his pelvis exploded while he was doing a split leap. They questioned male entertainer Hyun Park, Clara's actress and former pickpocket Robyn Haney and, provisional profiler Benjamin Nelson. Soon after, as they re-inspected the stage, the three detectives felt a pull in their legs, and out of nowhere, they ended up hanging from the ceiling.

The three managed to break free from the trap and resumed the investigation. They suspected drag queen Ashleigh and firefighter Lee Blevenis as well as discovering that Ivan refused to do all his scenes with Robyn as he was suspicious of her because of her criminal record and, Hyun and Ivan had recently started a friendship with benefits. Planning to update the Mayor on the situation, they started looking for him, however, the three detectives found him choking Benjamin. Detheroc took the mayor to the police station while Benjamin told Rachel and the player that Chris yelled at him that the master had to tie up the loose ends. In addition, Ivan wanted to ruin Ashleigh's success since in his mind a drag queen was worth less than a straight actor and, Lee had been found at one of his shows at the ladies 'club by Ivan and he wanted to blackmail him into causing fires in other actors' homes. Finally, the team arrested Hyun for the crime.

Hyun confessed to killing Ivan on Lucifer's orders. Hyun was working with Raduga Shest for a long time but he didn't promise to keep his secrets. Lucifer recently contacted Hyun for not only to wreak havoc on Odyssey Gardens by sabotaging the district's exclusive water supplies, but it was Hyun who managed to blame Ian Butler for being Herod with false evidence created by Lucifer themself. They also asked that, just as Frederic distracted the team at Gamble Summit, Hyun should give Lucifer time to execute their plan and thus give him a reward when the original team crumbled. Judge Blanton sentenced him to life imprisonment.

Post-trial, Detheroc went to question Hyun about Lucifer's identity and plan. Hyun told them that he had information for them stored in the bazaar. Detheroc and the player found sunglasses that contained a microcamera. After Devin analyzed them, they found that Evan had had several talks with Hyun where they discussed Raduga Shest's plans. When they confronted Evan about it, he said he believed Hyun was trying to impress him as Allen O'Brian did. After telling him about Hyun's arrest, Evan revealed that Hyun had told him that he had sent an escape team for Ian at Lucifer's request. Back with Hyun, he confessed that Lucifer owed Herod a debt to kill Ian themselves, so they went to "rescue him".

Meanwhile, Rachel went back to the ladies club for information about Hyun and his relationship with Lucifer. There, they found a pillow that hid psychological profiles from the entire team. Benjamin analyzed the profiles and realized that Rogelio was blaming everyone for being traitors except him. When asked about his justification, Rogelio made it clear that he had been harmed the most by Raduga Shest, so there was no point in ruining his own life. Also, he revealed that he had hypnotized the mayor to see if he was under Lucifer's control. Mayor Brooks said that he had been attacked by him and was forcibly hypnotized. Gathering all the information, the team is ready to beef up security at Walker Prison, but then they got a call from Warden Berkley saying Ian had escaped!
