—Commander Eva Dominique, talking about The Kitty Cats' crimes.

Six Feet Later is the seventeenth case in PetersCorporal's second season, Blue Coasts, as well as the third one in the City Center district.

Case Background

The case starts off with Nora MacMillon talking to the player about how Susan Kingston had already broken up with Pierre MacMillon, Nora's husband. After she talks about how Eva Dominique seems to be hiding something related to The Kitty CatsGeorge Nearnight appears to inform that a body had been found by Route 43 (which separatess the City Center from the Evergreen Wetlands, after the search that Jerry Bryar had asked for.

Nora and the player went there to investigate and they found the dead body of Candace Hunter, the prostitute who had reported the murder of 4 girls who were trying to escape the brothel 6 years prior. According to some old police documents, the case was being investigated in Eva's squad by Oscar Yeable, who said that the case was impossible to solve and that Annabelle Chashiroua had been the only one who kept investigating until she gave up as well. It would later be discovered that Oscar had been a client of The Kitty Cats for all those years. Candace had been the main witness in the quadruple murder case, so Annabelle had asked Eva to protect her but no efforts were done to catch the murderer of the 4 prostitutes or to prevent Candace from being killed as well. According to Madeline Maxwell, who was Candace's boss, everyone thought that she had been the victim of one of her clients.

Thanks to a fake arrest, Nora was able to save Zoey Biglia, another prostitute, from The Kitty Cats. After that, Hans Rougel appeared to tell the player and Nora that on the same day of Candace's disappearance, there had been a fire on Shokunin Grove, deemed as an arson and left to Eva's squad to investigate too. However, that crime was also never investigated, which meant that there was a connection between that arson and the murder of Candace. Moreover, an old article said that a person had died in the fire but nobody had been able to identify the victim.

Due to an old letter of Candace, they found out that before her death she had also been in contact with another witness of the quadruple murder and stated that they were working for another boss inside The Kitty Cats, but hadn't mentioned the names of either the other pimp or the other witness. She also mentioned how Madeline treated them poorly, which was enough of a concrete proof for them to have her arrested for sexual exploitation. After finding one last clue, they were able to arrest Madeline again, this time for Candace's murder.

Since she was mad about being one who had to pay for their mistakes (and knowing it would benefit her in her trial), Madeline gave the police valuable information about The Kitty Cats. She said that there were 2 other bosses apart from her and that one of them had been the one who had killed the four prostitutes six years ago, the other one being the arsonist behind the Shokunin Grove fire. Madeline said that they should have found another way to keep those four girls under control other than murdering them because it'd backfire, which proved to be true after Candace started exposing them for the crime. She had no choice but to silence Candace to set an example and to make up for the mistake of the other two pimps. Peggy Jasmine sentenced her to life imprisonment with a chance for parole in 40 years.

After her arrest, Nora and the player talked to Zoey about joining the Lavender Project, which she gladly accepted since she had been living in the brothel due to her parents kicking her out of her house when she was 18. Nora asked her if she knew anything about some alliance between Madeline and the local police, to which Zoey said that Madeline had mentioned some sort of "protection" and a red box she kept at the brothel. Nora and the player found the box, and saw that inside it there was a restraining order issued by Madeline against Eva Dominique. According to Hans, there was no reason for such a restraining order to exist, so Nora decided to confront Eva about it, but after dodging all of her questions, she broke down and told her that "her hands were tied" and that she encouraged the team to investigate those crimes if they wanted to.

Also, since Nora thought that the Shokunin Grove fire had been a plan to get rid of the other witness in the quadruple homicide case, she went to talk to Annabelle about who that other person was. She said that he was the reason why the Chief had asked her to join the team, since it was a (barely) old man who everyone took for a crazy person but whose weird statements Annabelle was still able to see through, and thanks to her and the witness they had been able to find the murder scene. Nora was sure that the fire had been cause to kill that witness, who would therefore be the unidentified victim of the old arson. Since they hadn't been able to find more info about it at the newspaper library, Annabelle suggested going back there but to find info about Reuben Thacks instead. Surprisingly, they found a newspaper from the day of his execution lying around, and a public invitation to his hanging for royal treason against the Kingdom of Frankland. According to Thomas Ravens' research, it had been a short-lived country on current French territory that had collapsed weeks after Reuben's death. They asked the newspaper librarian if anyone had checked that exact newspaper, and she said that a man wearing a red turbant had asked her for it. Finally, the team got Zoey a job and a place to live thanks to the Lavender Project and she thanked them for their help.
