—Case Teaser

Quaking With Fear is a case featured in Criminal Case as the one-hundred and seventy-fifth case of the game. It is the sixtieth case of The Mystery and the second case in Horizon Station.

Soon after their discoveries on the cult, a minor earthquake shook Horizon Station. After the tremors ended, Major and the player headed out to survey the surrounding area for any injured people in the earthquake, due to the tourists and visitors in the abandoned district. They then discovered the dead body of prison warden Woody Lester, his spine fractured, and that per Ethan, it was murder due to a two pronged wound in his back. They then investigated the crime scene and the victim's office, leading them to suspect explorer Henry Marksman, army sergeant Gustavo Vargas and young man and daredevil firestarter Charlie "Lumos" Tangle in the homicide of the warden. Soon after, they were informed by Jacob that with the warden dead, a breakout had ensured.

After they learned about the breakout, Jacob reported that the guards were able to confirm that Ina Landry, Chelsea Chapman and Kendra Redmoon had escaped prison. They then learned that Ina had ran off to a wrecked memorial in Horizon Station, prompting them to head there. They then found Ina, suspecting her in the murder before she fled the scene, the detectives then questioning cowboy Noah Wilton and architect Tristan Flanders, the latter trying to fix Horizon Station. They then discovered that Woody and Gustavo had a feud when the city was selecting the next prison warden over twenty years before, Woody told Henry to stop exploring places he shouldn't be and that Woody was trying to get Charlie put in an asylum due to his pyromaniac tendencies. Afterwards, they discovered from Erika that while she was looking through Woody's prison database, Ina was bribing him for prison benefits. They then confronted Ina, who told them that she was trying to get benefits in prison, but the warden refused him despite her pleas. In the end, the team then uncovered enough evidence and the murder weapon, a crowbar, before arresting Noah Wilton for the crime.

They then confronted Noah about the homicide and he denied the accusations despite his connections to his brother Jordan Brown. However the cowboy cracked and confessed to the murder, telling them that he didn't have a choice. He then explained that someone had started following him around, with the likings of Jordan Brown. He then started to believe that he was suffering from hallucinations of his dead brother after his brutal murder. He then told the detectives that someone had told him that killing Woody Lester would silence his nightmarish visions of his brother. He initially denied to believe that was the solution, but he soon discovered that nothing else could help his fears. So he then grabbed an old crowbar from his storage and discovered that Woody was inspecting the fallen Horizon Station wreckage following the minor earthquake and then attacked Woody, caving his back in. Then an aftershock of the earthquake tremored and Noah fled, hoping the aftershock would bury all evidence of his killing. He then held out his hands and told them that he would accept that he was guilty now that he was caught and asked them to arrest him. Major then arrested him for the crime and sent him to trial, where Judge Brighton then sentenced him to twenty years in prison. Afterwards, as Noah entered the prison, he then saw someone, and fled to hide, soon finding the warden's office. He then tries to scream as Jordan Brown then attacks him.

After the trial, they were informed by Acting Mayor Teagan that an attack had occurred in the prison and that after checking security footage she could not believe her eyes. After Alexandra made her some tea, Nancy then explained that she saw Jordan Brown attacking Noah in the warden's office per the security footage after being informed of an attack there. Major and the player, shocked by the news, then headed to the warden's office and collected Noah's body, as well a bloodied dagger. They then collected a sample of blood off the dagger and sent it to Joshua (as Janice was taking care of Zach) who confirmed that there was no DNA from Jordan on the dagger. However, he had found traces of dust from the memorial statue at the wrecked memorial. Major and the player then headed there to investigate the memorial, where they found a brown wig that looked quite similar to Jordan's own hairstyle. They then collected some hairs from the wig and Joshua was able to confirm that the hairs belonged to Tristan Flanders.

Major and the player then headed to Tristan's office and confronted him about killing Noah. Tristan then cracked and told them that he was ordered to, telling them that he couldn't remember months of his life, saying that he had a lust to hunt down Noah and drive him insane, before cruelly silencing him forever. He then told them that a cloaked person who called themselves the Silence had set him the task to murder Noah when he was arrested. They then arrested Tristan for his crimes and took him to prison. Soon after, Major suggested that they investigate the earthquake site to see if Tristan left anything incriminating toward the cult. They then investigated and discovered a locked GPS that they restored and unlocked, discovering a location pinpointed on a map of Horizon Station. Knowing that the Silence most likely ordered the murders of Woody Lester and Noah Wilton, Major then concluded that one of the Cult's headquarters could be there.

After Erika pinpointed the GPS's location, the tech expert then revealed that the coordinates was a hidden laboratory in the ruins of a pharmaceutical company after she used satellite technology. With these news, Major and the player headed out to investigate the hidden laboratory, arrest Chelsea and Kendra and uncover the Silence, as well the other three members of the Cult.
