Protocol 666 is a case featured in Criminal Case as the one-hundred and seventy-sixth case of the game. It is the sixty-first case of The Mystery and the third case in Horizon Station.

Plot

After the murder of Woody Lester and the escape of two cultists, The Arsonist and The Beast, Major and the player immediately headed to the laboratory to try and discover more about the cult. Unfortunately, much to their horror, they discovered the body of German police officer Gunter Eike, his eyes bleeding and glowing red like a robot. Ethan then confirmed that the victim was murdered when he was injected by nanotechnology that ate him from the inside. After the shocking discovery of Guther's demise, they then discovered clues in the laboratory to suspect Jacob's sister and nurse Bianca Wilson, who revealed that she was investigating medical technology for healing the sick. They also investigated the victim's police van and suspected widowed novelist Elisabeth Sinclair and wealthy businessman and suspected cultist Marcus Wellington in the murder. Soon after Diego told them that he had saw a protocol 630.37, because he saw Judge Denise Brighton, walking near the laboratory.

Major and the player then questioned the judge, who explained that she had memories of the laboratory when she was kidnapped by The Barker. The player and Major were then forced to add her as a suspect before they questioned African community pillar Mirembe Adebayo in the homicide after they found a factory laboratory for the recruits, which Jacob had found while investigating. They also found out that the victim had caught Bianca trying to help a man who was gravely injured, arresting her as he believed she was the culprit. However he later apologized to the nurse after realizing the misunderstanding. They also found out that Elisabeth had written about Gunter’s upcoming demise in her novel due to his determined personality to end everything. Later back at the station, the detectives were informed that the factory had caught on fire!

After the team put out the flames, Major discovered a burned letter from Chelsea Chapman, telling them that she was sorry to cause trouble once more due to Kendra forcing her to burn the laboratory. They then found that Gunter had tried to arrest Marcus for his former activities despite his release and that Denise felt that despite his good intentions, she felt that he was insufferably reporting “suspicious activity” about innocent people. They also found that Mirembe, in a fit of anger, had threatened the victim, after he asked too much questions about the communities, that she would ban him from the African community. After finding enough evidence, they were able to arrest Adebayo for the crime.

Accused of the crime, the community leader denied the evidence before she let slip that the goody-two-shoes shouldn’t have come to the laboratory. After Major asked what she meant, Mirembe told them that Gunter wanted to be a good cop so badly that he started investigating around Horizon Station and its abandoned buildings. She explained how he found out about the laboratory and came to investigate, unaware that she was present at the scene. She then confessed that while packing up some drugs to be sent across the city once more, disguising the drugs as a shipment from another country, she then saw him investigating. She then quickly hid and developed a plan to use him as the test lab for their new nanobots. She then approached him from behind, struck him in the head and injected him with a sedative. She then quickly forced him into the machine and used her binary knowledge to start the process of injection, watching as the machine did its work to kill him. She then told them how the last thing he could see was her as his insides was eaten from the inside, as she watched the light fade from his eyes. They quickly handcuffed her for the crime and took her to a video trial presided by Starlight Shores judge Owen Morpurgo, who sentenced the maddened woman to life in prison without parole.
