Pour Some Champagne is a case featured in Criminal Case, appearing as the fourteenth case of the game. It is the fourteenth case set in the city of Crimsonden and also the fifth one to take place in the Haunting Street district.
Plot[]
The gala started, as Arthur tried to talk to people, and gain donations for the manhunt needed for Sybil's rescue. Everybody was having a fun time, before a man started choking on his champagne, and his face soon turned blue, and he fell on the ground. Arthur rushed to the man, and told the detectives he had been poisoned. Arthur checked his guest list, and said that the man was Conell Anderson, a lawyer who co-owned a law firm. He said that Conell had made a donation for Sybil's rescue, so the murder probably wouldn't be related to her kidnapping. The team suspected Arthur Swift himself for the murder, and he repeated what he said. The team also suspected James Clarke, the victim's law firm partner, who asked about Rosalyn, to which Louis teased him, and James walked away, saying that the victim was just a business partner and nothing more. The team also suspected a waitress in the gala, named Kate Ash who said that the victim was just a rich snob, and that she thought Haunting Street wouldn't have them, but she was wrong. Louis remarked on her calmness on the murder, before learning that the victim's wife wanted to speak to them.
The team went to the victim's house, and stood in his living room to talk to Carmen Anderson, the victim's wife, who said that the victim was loved by everybody, and that they needed to wrap this murder as soon as possible. The player noticed Carmen sweating heavily, and Louis asked if she was nervous, to which she said that she had nothing to worry about, and that she thought justice would prevail. The team also suspected the victim's assistant Kierra Pond, who said that the victim paid her well, and that money was all that she cared about, before commenting on Louis' eyes, saying that he knew what he was getting into. After the interrogation, Louis said that he went by Kierra's words while getting sympathy, but listening somebody else default his injury to necessary in the line of duty slightly hurt. The team also found motives, such as the victim trying to hit on Kate, while he was married, which Kate slapped him for, and that James felt that Conell was taking less and less cases, and reducing his duties, before learning that Carmen was fighting with somebody.
The team went outside to see Carmen slapping Kierra. The player broke up the fight, while Louis observed trying to make sense of it. The team then searched the victim's home only to find that he was having an affair with Kierra. Carmen said that the victim was a wealthy man, and that Kierra had seduced him for his money, and that age played a factor in it. Kierra told the detectives that the victim had said he was in a polyamorous relationship and that he had said that Carmen was fine with him dating Kierra, and that she did care about the victim's money, but didn't expect to be fooled. The team also found that while others were donating for the manhunt, the victim had commented that Sybil was at fault as she didn't have self-defense or security, which angered Arthur very much. After one last search of the champagne stands, the killer was revealed to be Kierra.
The detectives confronted Kierra in the victim's law office, to which Kierra kept denying the murder, saying that she wasn't a murderer, and she loved Conell, and that the detectives were mad. Louis started telling Kierra the evidence, to which Kierra snapped, and said that Conell wasn't the target, it was James. Asking why she sent a threat to the victim then, she said that she wanted the victim to break up with his wife and end the polyamorous relationship, which she later learned was a lie. She said that her target at the law firm was James, not Conell, as Conell could be easily bribed by the conspiracy in the city, but not James. The team looked shocked that Kierra was a conspiracy agent, to which Kierra laughed and said that she knew the kidnapper, and that she wasn't saying a word. She then pulled out a gun, and put it to her head, saying that she was dying before saying a word, and that she deserved to die because she killed her lover instead of her target and she felt guilt over Conell's death, before taking the shot.
The team soon learnt that George Fitzroy wanted to talk to them. Malcolm and the player went to him slightly disgusted, because of his crime, to which he said that he didn't have the time to get judged by the team, and that he had heard something about using the lawyer as a framing. Malcolm and the player left without thanking him, before searching the victim's house, along with Evelyn as well. The team found packets of drugs in the victim's home. Malcolm mentioned how somebody must have left their fingerprints on the drugs. Nicholas Kirkland said that the fingerprints belonged to David Thornton. The team looked shocked saying how he was too obvious, so Malcolm ruled him out. Evelyn stepped outside to make a call, while the team rushed to David's home to arrest him, only to reach his home and find a voice-mail, which informed the team that somebody had informed him about his arrest. David then confessed to being the kidnapper behind Sybil's kidnapping, and said that they would never find the key.
The team then rushed to Arthur to give him the information, who started tearing up, saying that the manhunt needed to start. Arthur took the stage, and requested everybody to donate now that the kidnapper had slipped through the police's hands. The team after the speech from Arthur took the box of money, and sent to Joel for analysis. Joel said that the box of money contained a few fake notes, but he had sorted them out, and now the manhunt was ready. Chief Carpenter started the manhunt with tips coming from every direction. The team thanked Arthur for his help, and promised to find Sybil by any means necessary, now that they knew the kidnapper's identity, before Vicky came saying that she had found something.
Vicky talked to Louis and Malcolm, saying that she had seen a shadowy figure enter the gala, and hide something near the champagne centers. The team searched the champagne counters only to find bottles and bottles of champagne, before reaching down and finding a cypher. The team tried to open the cypher but it was not possible. The team soon took the cypher to Joel, who said that he would need a few hours to open it. The team waited for about an hour or so, before Joel came rushing in saying that he had opened the cypher, and that he had found a key inside the cypher with the address "23/7, Haunting Street". Corinne cried out that it was her parent's old apartment, and that she hadn't been there after the deaths. The team agreed that it might be a trap, and went to the flat slowly, and burst the door open into the dark flat...
