Paulie was born in Townville shortly after his parents arrived in the city after flying from the Sahara desert. They needed money so Paulie was sent to a public school and when he finished his studies got a job as a secretary for a private investigator, and thanks to that job he met a woman (much younger than him) who fell in love with him and after facing some problems, they took their secret relationship to the next level and got engaged.

Paulie was suspected during the murder investigation of Laurean Ohdie as he was the assistant of Wade Naff, the victim's business partner. He said that they should call Wade "Arnold Summerfield" which was his pseudonym when he was working. He seemed nervous when he was asked about the victim but it was not because of him being the culprit, it was because he was in a relationship with his granddaughter, Wendy Ohdie. He was free of all suspicions when Wade was arrested for having committed the murder.
The next day, he asked the team for help to buy a ring from Laurean's jewelry shop so that he could give it as an engagement ring to Wendy.
