Plot

Antonio continued clutching Sienna's motionless body, as the panicked scene began to fill with medics. Amidst the screaming, onlookers could hear the team pleading for Sienna to stay. Crowds stood in awe as blood trickled down the courthouse steps, the news of Sienna's shooting soon spreading across the rest of Ravenedge...

The morning after, the team nervously approached Moira for an update on Sienna's condition. Moira's mechanical arm shook as she relayed that she'd been able to stop the bleeding and retrieve the bullet, but Sienna falling to the floor had caused her to hit her head, leaving her in a comatose condition. Charity told the team to batten down the hatches and told them Sienna was a fighter, before shakily leaving to her office. Hope then asked the player to walk with her through town to get her mind off her sickness, where citizens were already talking about the shooting. On the high street, they found a golden rose painted onto the window of a local boutique and decided to enter. There, they found the body of boutique owner Carolyn Deville, clutching her swollen and pale neck.

Draco -holding the victim's half-dissolved lungs- then confirmed that Carolyn inhaled the poison via her perfume. Returning to the high street, Lawrence and the player then suspected Marianne's son-dock worker-Gabriel Rose, seamstress Lillian Snowe, and Italian lady Rosana Vianello, suspected in connection to threats made against the Rose Movement. Tobias soon addressed the team and told them to push on despite Sienna's condition, before Hope ran in, revealing that after researching Carolyn, she'd discovered her staunch loyalties to Mayor Osborne. As Hope detailed Carolyn's extensive meetings with Hugo's campaign manager, his daughter Francesca Osborne, they questioned her. Francesca admitted Carolyn was a dear friend, who saw the Osborne vision and would've been rewarded for it. They also spoke to neighbouring businessman and baker Alfred Mahler, who would often make deals with Carolyn. After discovering Gabriel had pleaded with Carolyn not to antagonize Rose supporters, who in returned threatened to reveal his bisexuality, they questioned Rosana, who confessed Carolyn had asked to use her land to host an support rally for the Mayor. Lawrence then recapped on the street, before he was suddenly covered in mustard.

An angry Lawrence tried wiping the sauce away, as Lillian continued destroying the dresses with condiments. They hauled Lillian in for questioning, where the young seamstress admitted she was relieving stress, and that Carolyn had always attacked her for supporting the Rose Movement - even threatening to fire her if she continued. Alfred then insisted Carolyn's public support of the Mayor was driving people away from his neighbouring bakery, and despite his attempts to stop Carolyn, she only cared for herself. Francesca was also confronted again, after the team found evidence she purposefully blocked Carolyn from attending a soiree. Francesca then admitted Carolyn was performative, using the divides in Ravenedge to gain social favour. Finally, Lillian was uncovered as the killer.

Lillian anxiously clutched her collar and placed her hand to her chest, vehemently exclaiming she could never hurt anyone, especially her mentor. Lawrence snarled and presented the evidence, countering Lillian's pleas. Lillian eventually snapped, gripping her hair tightly. She sighed, confessing Carolyn was Lucifer in a human's skin, that her heart was evil and cruel. After learning of Lillian's support for the Rose Movement, Carolyn treated her unfairly, even cutting her pay and leaving her to hustle for food scraps in the market. Fearful and starved, Lillian became unhealthier and unhealthier, her stress leading to sleepless nights. Lillian angrily decreed Carolyn never cared about either side, feigning her support for the Mayor to gain social favour and to franchise her businesses into other districts. In a tired daze, Lillian stumbled to the market and purchased a vial of poison from a man wearing a deerstalker. She then mixed the poison into Carolyn's perfume while she was running errands. When she returned, Carolyn snatched the perfume from her and sprayed it, soon convulsing and dying on the floor. Next, Lillian painted a golden rose - the symbol of Lila - onto the front window to symbolize her victory. In court, Lillian told the jury that Carolyn was a problem mutt and that bad dogs needed to be put down. When asked how she pleaded, Lillian admitted the night she plotted Carolyn's death was the best night's sleep she'd had in months. Judge Haddid then sentenced her to thirty-three years in prison.

Post-trial, a weary Antonio approached Lawrence and the player, communicating Rosana's sudden arrival in Ravenedge was no coincidence. When asked how he knew Rosana, Antonio reluctantly confessed that Rosana was a gang leader who took over the Vianello mafia after her father's sudden death. The weapons expert also explained he used to work for her gang, but secretly helped the Venetian police to take her patrolmen down. Agreeing to look further into Rosana's connections to the attacks on movement members - including Sienna - they headed back to the high street. After a tireless search, the trio ultimately recovered a hidden box with the Vianello insignia, which - once unlocked - contained many cryptic messages in Italian. Antonio then offered to begin translating the messages on his riverboat. A few hours later, the Italian admitted he hadn't finished decrypting every message as most were written in shorthand but he was able to decipher some. Antonio then read out the first, exclaiming 'the many ears of Ravenedge will know your dirty secret if you do not comply. Stand by and await my further instructions. Your life is no longer your own, and from now until the end of time, you are mine'.

Startled, Lawrence concluded the person writing the messages must've been the same person who blackmailed both Ida Stanbury and the Blackwood family into targeting figureheads of the Rose Movement. Antonio agreed, relaying how the Vianello mafia used to leave commands to their patrolmen in boxes for them to read and leave behind. Pedro joined, loudly exclaiming he had found faint traces of sweat on the paper, which belonged to none other than Rosana. A shaking Antonio then admitted he couldn't confront her in person, prompting the pair to go in his place. Upon confrontation, Rosana began to sweat further, but wiped her head and quickly composed herself. Lawrence then demanded to know why she'd been forcing attacks against the movement, to which Rosana simply replied their evidence was flimsy at best. Despite Lawrence's attempts to break her act, Rosana stood firm, decreeing that if they didn't leave her alone at once, she'd file a restraining order against them and the entire department. Blowing a kiss, Rosana whispered a single word - "checkmate" - before escorting them out the door.

Back at the foyer, the team regrouped minus Antonio, who was sitting by Sienna's bedside. Amethyst divulged she was starting to worry for him during their therapy sessions, but couldn't disclose why. Charity soon told the team that stopping the blackmailer was their priority, especially after Sienna's shooting. Dubbing them the 'Fearmonger', Charity commanded them to move full steam ahead, before Antonio ran in. He bellowed he'd translated another message from the Fearmonger, which had ordered an unknown citizen into placing a bomb in the publication office to kill Beaufort Devereaux. Alarmed, they asked when it was happening, to which Antonio worriedly revealed today. With no time to waste, the team rushed to their automobiles, determined to stop the Fearmonger's next attack.
