Until she and her twin brother were born, her older sister Jacqueline always wished to have a brother or sister. That came true when on 13th August 1992 when Elizabeth and Lucas, her parents, gave birth to not one child but two children: a boy and a girl. Madi was the first to come out 2 minutes before Duncan. From that point, Madi spent lots of time with her sister and the three grew a bond.
At the age of 2, Madi was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and had to use a walker for the rest of her life. Duncan, however, had a cancerous tumour in his left leg and had to have the leg amputated.
Later on, at the of 13, due to her condition, she developed weak knees and ended up having to have her kneecaps replaced so it doesn't end up constantly in pain after at least 100m of walking.
