Jim became one of the suspects in the investigation of Rico Marchi's murder as Steve Zasts, the victim's cellmate, was one of his patients. He said that both Steve and him hated Rico, and showed signs of being more or less more insane than Steve himself. All of the murder suspicions that had fallen on him proved to be false as in reality Steve was the actual killer.
