Hook, Line and Screamer! is a case featured in Criminal Case where it appears as the second case of Mysteries of Westwood. It's also the second case to take place in Werewolf Valley
Plot[]
After discovering that Cal's brother Donny Lowe went missing after his date in the drive-in movie theatre, Nicholas Ryder sent Cal and player to investigate the drive-in theatre and find more clues about Donny's disappearence. The pair arrived to the drive-in theatre and Cal instantly noticed that a hand sticking out of the broken car window. The duo approached the car and found a dead body of vampire coven leader Athena Crow, who was staked through the heart with a wooden stake. After investigating the scene and sending Athena's body to Bryce, the team found enough evidence to suspect Athena's friend and vampiress Lorena Austin, football player Ernest Hodges and supernatural hunter Charlie Steinberg. When they returned back to other team memebers, Noah and Vera told them that someone cursed the victim few hours before her death.
After Vera told them that someone cursed the victim with a vampire statue in her mansion, the team headed there and investigated. Later on, the team found enough evidence to suspect Wiccan witch Maddie Mortem, who cursed the victim, and rich socialite Tiffany Weber, victim's friend. Few hours later, after investigating the nearby restaurant, the team discovered that Lorena wanted to take Athena's place as the coven leader, saying how their coven found definitely fall apart with Athena in charge. They also learned that Charlie suspected that Athena was searching for a way to become invincible, worrying him. When they returned back to the drive-in theatre, where they got approached by Katherine, who told them that victim's car has been stolen.
After investigating the drive-in theatre once again, the team discovered that it was Ernest who stole Athena's car and was under the influence of alcohol. The team confronted the drunk Ernest, who revealed that Athena deserved it for turning his girlfriend into a vampire and stealing her from him. The team then investigated victim's mansion once again and discovered that Tiffany begged Athena to turn her and that Athena bullied Maddie for being a witch. Later on, Cal and player found enough evidence to arrest Tiffany Weber for the crime.
Upon admitting to the murder, Tiffany snapped, saying how Athena deserved to die for everything she has done. Tiffany sighed before her eyes turned red and her fangs descended, exposing herself to be a vampire. Shocked Cal asked Tiffany why did she kill her own coven leader, making Tiffany explain that she was turned into a vampire few months ago. Tiffany was devastated, but eventually she met another vampire, who offered her to join his coven and she accepted it, wanting safety. Over the next few months, Tiffany discovered that she has psychic abilities and her entire coven looked at her as their sister, despite her powers. However, during her coven leader's dinner party, the entire coven was attaked by feral vampires who killed everyone except for her, traumatizing her for life. Having nowhere to go, Tiffany approached Athena for help, who immediately let Tiffany into her coven, much to her surprise. For the next few weeks, Athena spent a lot of time with Tiffany because she was interested in her psychic abilities, making Tiffany realize that something was off with Athena. When Athena left the mansion, Tiffany sneaked in and searched her room, eventually discovering that Athena sent ferals to kill her entire coven because she wanted to have a psychic vampire in her own. Wanting revenge, Tiffany grabbed a stake, tracked Athena to the drive-in theatre and plunged the stake into her chest. The duo then presented Tiffany to Lorena, who apologized for Athena's actions and promised that she'll make sure nothing like that happens ever again. As for Tiffany's punishment, Lorena decided to sent Tiffany to the vampire dungeon for at least 15 years, which Tiffany accepted. When Cal and player returned back to others, they got approached by Charlie Steinberg, who found Donny in the forest.
Charlie then lead them to Donny, who was hanging out in the theatre. Tearful Cal then hugged his brother and asked him if he's okay. Still holding his brother close, Donny said that he was gone for few hours and that it wasn't anything serious. Confused, Cal told him that he was missing for more than 24 hours, much to Donny's surprise. Katherine then reminded him about his date in the drive-in theatre, but Donny said that he doesn't remember being on the date at all. Worried that something horrible happend to Donny, Katherine and player searched the drive-in theatre again, eventually finding Donny's broken cellphone. The duo restored it and sent it to Noah, who revealed that Donny's selfies from the drive-in theatre are still on the phone. The pair then spoke to Donny again, who was shocked because he still doesn't remember anything about the date and who was with him. After looking further through his gallery, Donny remembered that he was at the restaurant too, prompting the team to go there and investigate. Katherine and player then soon found Donny's backpack and inside they found a torn-up poster of Westwood animal shelter. Donny, Katherine and player then informed Nik about everything, who suggested that they should search the animal shelter too, but both werewolf brothers should take a rest first.
Meanwhile, Moira Bloodworth approached the player, saying how she has something important to discuss. Scratching her neck, Moira revealed how she never had a chance to hang out with other vampires and experience all cool things they do. Moira then revealed how she wants to join Athena's coven and meet more vampires. Moira and player then met up with Lorena Austin, who proudly revealed that she took Athena's place as the coven leader and promised that she'll take Athena's coven to 21st century. When Moira told her about her idea of joining, Lorena told her that she needs to get branded as a coven member, but only Athena had the brand with her. The duo then investigated the drive-in theatre and found a black locked box. After unlocking it, the team met up with Lorena again, who heated the brand and branded Moira's wrist, welcoming her to the vampire coven. Moira thanked Lorena for letting her join and thanked the player for being there for her.
Later that night, excited Moira revealed that she's a member of Lorena's vampire coven, making Nik shake his head and warn her to be careful around Lorena. Before Moira could take everyone out to celebrate, Cal revealed that someone erased Donny's memories of last two days for still unknown reasons. Donny then showed them the animal shelter poster, suggesting that he and his date went there for some reason. Holding Nik's hand, Jacob suggested that both Cal and Donny should go home and rest before they investigate the animal shelter tommorow. Nik agreed with Jacob and the team decided to call it a night, saying how last two murder investigations have been very stressful. The next day, Katherine and player were ready to investigate the animal shelter...
