Girl's Best Friend is the third case of Criminal Case: American Edition (Season 1) and appears as the third case overall. It takes place in the Chale Hills district of New York City.
Plot[]
After Adison's kidnapping from the previous case, the team went at the docks after they found out where she's being kidnapped. Unfortunately, they never saw Adison there but rather a dead body. Dante said that he recognized the dead person because it was one of the suspects they encountered in one of their cases. They found out that the victim was Sarah Harnes, the girlfriend of the victim in the first case.
Near the start, Paul (whose gun was used to kill Sarah), Maria (whose threatening note was found on the crime scene), and Kara (whose ID was found on the crime scene) were flagged as suspects. Dante suggested to investigate Sarah's house, since she was there before the murder happened.
Later on, Franco (whose DNA was found on the victim's clothes) and Jason (whose tooth was found on Sarah's house) became suspects as well.
Dante shoots Maria after she attempted to escape the headquarters.
After the team gathered enough evidences, they managed to incriminate Maria Johnson as Sarah's killer. Maria tried denying but later admitted to her crimes. She said that she was going to get killed by FEAR as they thought she was weak for killing people. To prove herself, she called Sarah to go to the docks to talk about something important. She shot Sarah with Paul's revolver so that Paul could be exposed as her killer.
Maria doesn't want to be arrested so she activated a smoke bomb and escaped the headquarters. She was about to enter her car but were unable to do so after Dante shot her with a gun.
Judge Kara Montes therefore sentenced Maria to life in jail for Sarah's murder, failure to cooperate with the authorities and obstruction of justice.
