Enough Rope is the twenty-fifth case in PetersCorporal's second season, Blue Coasts, as well as the fourth one in the New Lakeland district.
Case Background
After Fred Sommerville's burglary incident, Jerry Bryar told the player that they were slowly refurbishing his house, and that now Fred was staying at Jerry's place more often than not. As the conversation shifted over to politics and the current inflation (result of the Laila Myers bill), Hans Rougel said that he was leaving in order to go to a Reform Party event, having to arrive early since he was the mayoral candidate. Jerry and the player agreed to go with him since they had intentions to vote for him, due to the other two candidates (Danniel Svykozsky and Andrea Kissling) being corrupt opportunists. However, as soon as they arrived, they found the whole place still empty of people except for the dead body of Helen Steinbeck, a businesswoman who was a member of the party. In a video recorded with her phone, they saw that she had been attacked and strangled near the lake. Arguing that he needed to know what was happening inside his party, Hans said he'd stay with them and act as their partner during the investigation, which made Jerry uncomfortable and awkward but was in no position to tell him no.
