Drop Dead Beautiful is a case featured in Criminal Case as the one-hundred and ninety-seventh case of the game. It is the sixteenth case of Mystical Investigations and the fifth and final case in the Hazel Coast district of Maplemoor.
Plot[]
After learning of the location of the Fountain of Youth, the player and Krystal hurried there in hope of saving Hunter Parks. After arriving to the location and into the hideout, they were only able to find Hunter's bloodied phone...as well as an unknown young man's corpse, holding his chest. After analysing him, they were horrified to discover it was lighthouse owner Arnold Bates, but looking like he had rejuvenated by at least thirsty years! After sending the body to Ariella, who expressed worries for Hunter's safety, she informed the duo that Arnold had a pacemaker which, due to his heart deaging with him, caused the victim's heart to pump too fast, causing a heart attack in the process. Furthermore, she was also able to confirm, due to marks on his and hands, that he had been forced to drink from it, meaning it was no accident. With that in mind, they investigated the crime scene as well as the victim's lighthouse, finding clues to suspect mermaid Marina Van Amstel, siren Darya Thompson and mystic Martha Wildes. They were also forced to add Peony to the suspect list after discovering the skull of her boyfriend in the lighthouse, prompting her to burst out crying and wishing vengeance on those aquatic creatures. Back at the station, Jack approached them and explained that he saw something belonging to Hunter near another hideout!
Arriving there, they were only able to find Hunter's moonstone necklace, prompting them to investigate further, finding clues to add underwater city queen Aerwyna Asturias and prison supervisor Catherine Hurst to the suspects before discovering that Marina was the one to have invited Arnold to meet at the fountain, but simply wanted to have a chat. They also found out that, while in human form, the victim had almost killed Darya due to him activating the lighthouse while she was at the top, blinding her and that Martha believed Arnold played a part in the fire that ravaged Paix. Back at the station, the duo was recapping the case when Peony bursted in the station, telling them she found Hunter.
Following their medic, the duo were able to find a severely injured Hunter who they immediately brought to the station. There, Ariella was able, although disgusted and angry, to confirm that whoever had attacked him had stabbed him in the back and leg, immobilising him as she remarks that Hunter was missing his jacket. With Hunter at the station, the duo went back to their investigation, soon finding out that Peony had an outburst at Arnold due to her accusing him of helping the aquatic creatures to kidnap innocents peoples such as her boyfriend or Hunter, two peoples who she knew had met Arnold prior to their dissapearances. They then learned that Aerwyna had told Arnold to stop shooting flares in the water due to his lighthouse's malfunction and that the victim tried to buy the prison to get another lighthouse, but was forced out of the island by Catherine. After a long and painful investigation, the duo was able to arrest Darya for the murder.
Upon confronting her at the foutain, where she tried to deny the evidences but soon snapped. She explained how Arnold was such an easy target and how she simply had to say some sweets words for him to start dragging young men to them. How he wanted so badly to be young again. She continued on explaining how their queen was satisfied to learn that their plan of finding the Fountain was working and that, soon, the entire world would be drowned under the seas of the world after they rejuvenated it. But for it to work, they needed pure young blood of a human. So when she saw a small human child near the lake, she took her chance and striked, injuring him. But what she didn't expect was for its brother to arrive armed and slash open her arm, revealing the scar that Hunter dealt, hence revealing herself to have been Leo's attacker. Infuriated, she told Arnold to try and bring someone to the fountain which turned out to be that insolent child. But before he arrived, she decided to grant Arnold's wish to be young...But deaged him too much, watching him suffer from a heart attack with satisfaction. But upon seeing Hunter, she was filled with rage and beated him up, stabbed him to the point of unconsciousness and was ready to throw him in the fountain...before realizing she could use his blood for her plan. As she revealed this, she pulled out a flask of Hunter's blood, telling them that they were too late anyway...And dropped it in the fountain. As the duo was horrified, they suddenly witnessed the fountain draining itself to the horror of Darya. The siren suddenly screamed that this annoying child wasn't pure like she was informed before launching herself at Krystal, only for the young detective to dodge her and handcuff her. At the trial, Judge Blackmoon sentenced the evil aquatic creature to life in prison for the murder of Arnold Bates and the multiples others she committed as well as the attacks on Leo and Hunter Parks. After the trial, Tobias approached the duo, telling them that he knew why Darya's plan failed so badly.
After the trial, the duo headed to see Aerwyna and arrest her for her involvement, the queen angrily telling them that they never should have messed with them! Wanting to put an end to this immortality, they headed to the hideout once more, finding plans on how to refill or destroy the fountain completely. After sending them to Kaitlyn, the lore expert explaining that the only way that the fountain would forever be destroyed would be that a royalty member banish it from existence. Remembering that merman Cyran Asturias could help them, they went to see him. Upon asking for his help, he told them that he would gladly help if they could help him officially be pronounced king as, even if he didn't wish to, he needed to step up for his people. At the lighthouse,t he team was able to find a broken crown that, upon being restored, belonged to Aerwyna. After officially naming Cyran king of the aquatic city, he proceeded to follow them to the fountain and, despite being against it, banish the fountain for all the evils it could do. With the immortality now fully gone, the team was able to take a breather.
Meanwhile, Tobias explained to the team that Hunter's necklace reminded him of something and that, with the confirmation of Hunter not being a normal human, he remembered that those types of necklaces were given to werewolf children by their parent. With the new discovery, they approached Hunter who, after trying to deny it, sighed and admitted that he hadn't been fully honest. He proceeded to tell them that his father was a werewolf, but that his mother was a human, meaning that he and Leo were half-blood. He continued saying that after his parents died, the last thing he wanted would be for him and Leo to have to run for the rest of their lives. However, Tobias asked him if he could prove what he was saying, on which Hunter immediately looked at him, saying that despite the tech expert being a werewolf, he was wearing some inconvenient clothing, making Tobias a bit embarrassed. As they were about to leave, Hunter suddenly asked if they could do something for him. When asked what it was, the teenager explained that he had taken the time to think about what would happen to him and his brother and that he wanted to potentially ask Peony and Ariella to take them in, but that he had lost their birth certificates when that siren attacked him. Arriving at the gorgeous hideout, the duo found two damaged certificates that, upon being consulted by Jack and Destiny, were confirmed to be the two brothers' certificates. They then approached Ariella with Hunter, making the teenager explain the situation upon which the coroner smiled and told him that she would be glad to welcome them into her house. The pair then hugged as Leo and Peony slowly joined in.
After the arrest and the heart-warming reunion of a new-formed family, the chief slowly approached his team and explained that he was sorry to have to break such a moment but that he had received some worrying information. He then explained that he had heard of some strange events happening in Blaze Canyon, the local spot for ghosts and desert creatures, concerning livestock being found drained of their lives. With information of new happenings, the team decided to head to the spiritual district of the city in search for answers, somehow feeling that this was no coincidence.
A few days ago, Hunter and Leo Parks could be seen entering the city through the hole in the wall, looking in pity states. The two brothers slowly look around the city, hoping to find something to eat...They were alone, broken and would soon be brought into a nightmare that they believed would never end...Yet it did end. Less than a week later, the duo could be seen happily exploring their new home, not fearing for their lives anymore. For once, they could relax. They could smile. They could say they had found a new home, one that they wouldn't abandoned. Despise all, they could finally say that they would have a future. That now, they weren't outsiders anymore. They were residents of Maplemoor and its secrets.
