Darren was an agronomy student at Townville's University, where he befriended Gerard Jamin, with whom he would do practical jokes on people pretending to be a thief. This bad habit resulted in his death as an accident from Gerard.
Gino Reina found Darren's lifeless body hung from a tree in the Oak Valleys. His identity was confirmed due to his fingerprints on a note he left for Gerard Jamin at Townville University Campus. Steve Zasts, the Valleys' owner, said that Darren was working for Cecilia DiGiappo and Cecilia seemed to know that Darren had been murdered even before being told about it. The team found out later that Darren and Cecilia had been married but they divorced one year later.
In the end, Gerard Jamin turned out to be Darren's killer but he had done it accidentally. Darren was his friend and he wanted to show Gerard that he'd managed to get a real gun. Gerard was scared and didn't want to play with real weapons as it was in fact all to do pranks on people. The two friends started fighting and it ended with Gerard pulling the trigger and a bullet in Darren's head. Gerard got drunk to overcome the manslaughter but it got worse. Once he was drunk, he put Darren in the trunk of his car and took him to the Oak Valleys to hang his body from an oak tree.
