—Case Teaser

Clip My Wings is a case featured in Criminal Case, it appears as the twenty-fourth case in A World Forgotten and the two hundred and thirteenth overall. It takes place as the sixth and final case in the Angel Grove district of Ravenedge.

Dusk fell over the gothic city as officers rushed across roads, bridges, searching the city in a manhunt for Sebastian Havisham, the master behind the kidnapping ring. As Lawrence equipped the team with guns, with Antonio reluctantly taking one, they rushed to the dark sewers, running beneath the city, to end the Angel Grove mysteries once and for all. Once inside, they followed a trail of crimson blood to a candlelit chamber, with cages against the wall and chains hanging down. Lawrence then picked up a candle and held it to the chains, revealing marksman Hank Keating, suspended by chains from two slashes in his back, like angel wings... the mechanical angel. They soon hurried Hank's body to Moira, who confirmed Hank was killed by two vertical slashes to the back, before the chains were hooked through his skin. As Lawrence commented on the brutal death, they returned to the sewers, finding reason to suspect animal trainer Alexandro Fang, Celine Rose's mother, widowed novelist Marianne Rose, and market vendor Walter Hernandez. As the player and Lawrence recapped the investigation - with Lawrence wondering how Hank tied into the conspiracy - Draco confirmed he'd found DNA under Hank's fingernails... belonging to Lawrence himself.

Awkwardly, Lawrence sighed, admitting he'd fought with Hank days before the murder. He revealed Hank had threated to shoot his daughter for patrolling his grounds in the woods, though he insisted he wasn't a murderer. With Lawrence suspected, Sienna partnered with the player for the investigation, with the pair soon searching Hank's shack and finding reason to suspect prosecutor Florence Qutrain and kidnap victim Lila, who they found roaming the sewers after escaping her cage. They then discovered that Hank shot Alexandro's wolf, killing them, prompting the animal trainer to vow revenge. Marianne was also interrogated after they discovered she'd approached Hank about ridding the city of officials, though she denied all claims. As the team recapped, Cornelius revealed he'd discovered a major break in the case, the owner of the chains.

He then revealed he'd traced the chains back to Walter, who they soon confronted. Walter then confessed to owning the chains, but revealed he sold many over the previous weeks, including to Lawrence. Lawrence soon confessed he'd bought the chains for a home project, not to murder, categorically denying involvement and insisting he'd changed from his troublesome youth. They also learned that Lila used to sneak out of the museum, before discovering that Florence's son had been kidnapped and murdered by the kidnapping ring. Eventually, the pieces aligned, revealing one "angel" as the killer… Lila.

They soon rushed to apprehend Lila, before Amethyst revealed Lila had returned to the murder scene. They ventured back into the sewers, discovering Lila painting the wall with a golden rose – the mark of the vigilante. Lila then told the pair to not feel remorse for Hank, revealing he was a kidnapper for the ring, that it was him who kidnapped her and Savannah. Lila then confessed to be the vigilante, admitting Celine Rose’s sacrifice inspired her to stand up for the people of Ravenedge, to do whatever was necessary for justice. She detailed that it was her who stopped Christopher from kidnapping Savannah, before beating him to death. She then revealed that afterwards, she was kidnapped while fleeing the scene, then being sold to Samson Perrier and his museum. Lila then innocently revealed that she escaped her cage in the sewers, attacking Hank and knocking him out. She then tortured him for information on the kidnapping ring’s master, who was her target, but when he wouldn’t talk, she slashed him in the back and used the chains Hank tied her up with to suspend him from the ceiling. Lila then told them to handcuff her, but insisted it wouldn’t matter, as the people of Ravenedge would side with her, that the revolution had begun. Lila was then taken to court, where she proudly stood, not ashamed of her actions. As crowds protested her arrest outside, Lila told the jury that it was time to pick a side, the people or the traitors. Judge Haddid then sentenced the young vigilante to life imprisonment, but as Lila was taken away, she continued to chant: “Ravenedge must do better!”.

Following Lila's trial, the team reconvened, where Lawrence apologised for his actions, but pleaded to make it better by finding the missing teenagers. They rushed back to the kidnap chambers, finding no trace of the teenagers. After searching the chambers, turning each rock and looking in each crevice, they discovered Sebastian’s blueprints. They soon sent them to Pedro, who confirmed that the chambers contained a secret room. After unlocking the hatch, they found the teenagers huddled in a group after being forced into the locked room. A few hours later, Tobias arranged for the teenagers to be sent home to their parents along with arranging therapy for them. Sienna also revealed they’d found Sebastian’s list of all his business deals, meaning they would be able to find the teenagers sold by the operation. As the teenagers left, a morose Savannah revealed she had nowhere to go, as both her parents were dead. Antonio then suggested Savannah stay with him and he become her legal guardian, confessing he’d always wanted to help someone like her. Savannah then agreed to the idea happily, finally finding a home.

Afterwards, Charity revealed that Beaufort Devereaux had published an article, blasting the team for the “morally barbaric arrest of Lila, a supporter of the Rose movement”. They soon met Beaufort in the town square, where he was handing out rose pins, the same pins Louise Blantyre, Travis Widdecombe, and Ida Stanbury wore. Beaufort then told the duo that he had the right to publish whatever he wanted with the freedom of the press, saying that Celine and Lila were both innocent girls destroyed by Ravenedge. Marianne was there, supporting Beaufort, where she vowed to avenge her fallen daughter and promise a better city, one Celine would have wanted. She then told them to pick a side or be left in the dust of the revolution. Meanwhile, the team attended Mayor Osborne’s speech, where he revealed he was now the permanent replacement to Ezekiel Havisham. He then issued a city-wide curfew on the city, insisting that he would clean up the streets, at all costs.

Finally, Charity and Hope met by the river to bid farewell to Arnold, once and for all. Charity then confessed that Arnold showed her the joy in life, that he was always there for her, before Hope revealed that her father taught her to always look for the truth and be there for others, no matter what. As the tribute to Arnold floated down the river, Charity began to sob happily as Hope wrapped her arms around her. Later, Eva told the team she’d spoke to all her contacts about Sebastian Havisham’s whereabouts, soon discovering he was hiding out in Mystveil, the supernatural and woodland district of the city. Charity then told the team to set a course for Mystveil, as Sebastian wouldn’t escape the law on their watch.
