Catch a Flight Out is a case featured in Criminal Case, appearing as the thirty-first case of the game. It is the thirty-first case set in the city of Crimsonden and also the second one to take place in the Church Roads district.
Plot[]
Allison said that she knew the airport layout well as she had been here many times before for flights. She led the player into the airport and the two sat in the lounge waiting for Maria's attacker. Before they could find the attacker though, a frantic Maria called from the other side of the airport saying that she had found a man electrocuted. The team went to find it was the owner of the Crimsonden private Airport, Lennox Hayes. The team suspected Maria on finding the body and she protested, before suspecting pilot Noel Hodgson, who said that Lennox and he had a close relationship. The team also searched the runaway where the victim had been for routine checks, and suspected air hostess Lorelai Norris, who said that she had not known the victim that nicely. The team learnt that the killer ate tiramisu, and wrote poems. before learning that a flight was about to take off with both Noel and Lorelai.
The team rushed to the airport to stop the flight from taking off as Noel and Lorelai were both major suspects. The team stopped at the check-in counter, and also suspected businessman Stanley Davis, who worked closely with Christian Byrne. He said that the delays were unforgivable, before the team also suspect barista at the airport Hunter Jensen who said the victim that the victim always ordered one black coffee, and nothing else, before the team found that the killer drank espressos. The team also found out that Noel and the victim had a fight since Noel had refused to fly over restricted airspace, and that the victim had made inappropriate comments about Lorelai and she felt uncomfortable, before learning that Maria had punched the victim.
Allison furiously confronted Maria about keeping so many secrets, and she said that the victim was an old creep who touched women inappropriately and deserved worse than a punch, and Allison warned if Maria was the one who delivered the "worse" punishment, she would pay, before learning that Hunter had been paid less than minimum wage for his work, and that Lennox was evading taxes for the last five years without any consequences. The team also finally found out that Stanley had the victim had business feud years ago, but Stanley said it was water under the bridge, but was not believed. After finding all the motives, and the murder weapon, a taser, the killer was arrested as Allison and the player went to Stanley.
Stanley refused the allegations saying that he was innocent, but Allison confronted him saying he killed Lennox due to the business deal, before Stanley's face whitened and he said that it was either him or Lennox. Allison asked him to elaborate, and Stanley said that the deal was on the behalf of Christian Byrne, and Christian would have killed him if it came out that the deal was a failure. He wanted to kill Lennox, and then force his remaining family into accepting the deal, by intimidation. Allison said that this was not the way, before arresting him. Judge Cross sentenced him to 23 years in prison, and asked the team to find evidence to arrest Christian soon. After exiting the courtroom, Ian came running out saying that Ansel had bailed out his sister out of prison after her arson a few days ago.
The player, Ian and Allison rushed to the Gardner home, and found Ansel in the front yard drinking a cocktail. He then got up from the armchair, and offered Ian one, saying that he looked stressed and could use one. Ian screamed at Ansel, saying how he could do such a thing, before Ansel asked what. Ian replied with the fact he had bailed Miranda, a known criminal out, and that Miranda literally encouraged Ansel to commit crime against the team. Ansel laughed, and said that Miranda had changed and that he didn't worry about that at all, as Miranda wouldn't attack the team again. He then said Miranda had gone to the Airport cafe, and Ian and the player went there, Ian not trusting Miranda. The team then found a small pendrive hidden amongst the cups, where they found encrypted messages between Miranda and Christian Byrne. Joel confirmed that the messages were of criminal activity, and he said that Miranda was trying to trick Christian. The team confronted Miranda, and she mockingly accused Ian of "corrupting" her brother, saying that innocent men like her father died in the crossfire, and that she would bring down the gang by any means possible, before saying that she was an "angel" being confronted unfairly. Ian clenched his fist and then stormed off.
The team, except Corinne who was on the computer in her lab, were sitting in the breakroom with Jean trying to learn all the killers after his arrest. The phone suddenly rang, and Allison picked it up, to hear Rosalyn's voice on the other side. She said that she had found the files which detailed Maria's assassination, and that the team traitor must have informed Christian of the fact that the airport had been discovered. She said that she had kept all the details of the murder in one of the suitcase boxes of the runaway. The team went there to find the pendrive. Joel, tired from all the analyzes, wearily said that the person supposed to kill Maria was Ryland Britton, the gang member they already had identified. The team arrested Ryland who protested his arrest saying that he did not kill Maria, but Allison slapped him for trying to kill her younger sister, before throwing him into a cell.
Annabelle then came to the station, saying that she needed Joel to leave the team right now. Joel in his confusion asked Annabelle why he needed to leave the team before Annabelle wearily said that Joel was still the eldest Bradley sibling, and even if Sylvester was the legal heir, people could kill Joel. Joel angrily refused, saying that Adrian wasn't the oldest but he was still murdered by The Justice, before Annabelle screamed that they needed to check the check-in counter, and that she had heard the words of the force "Justice Over All" being mumbled there. The team reluctantly checked the check-in counter, where they found something regarding Eleanor Carpenter. The thing found was a pendent, which swore vengeance on the Force, and especially Eleanor, and Eleanor answered it must be Miranda, before Joel answered Annabelle about her offer with a resounding "no". He said that he had two parts to him, one of which was a stubborn, loyal yet a darker side of him, which was enhanced by his identity as a Bradley, and the other side was a cooperative and kind and helpful worker, who would defend his loved ones, and he was choosing his better side. Annabelle then left, as the station closed for the night...
A few days later... A figure stood outside the police building, their hands bloody from the crime they had just committed. They were right. The system did need to go down. Everything had led up to the system falling, yet they stopped. The figure then started pouring gasoline onto the dark building, with nobody in out, and lit a match. And then the Crimsonden Justice Department's building went up in ashes.
