Plot[]

Following the discovery that Esteban Pike and his gang plotted the station bombing alongside Leblanc Deveraux, Charity sternly commanded the team scour every last lead into the movement so they could find them. With the team's numbers dwindling, Lawrence and Cornelius still grieving, Sienna and the player investigated a reported disturbance at Beaufort's residence. There, however, they found Beaufort's mother Anais Saballine dead, her hand tied to the door knocker. Draco quickly confirmed that Anais was killed by a single bullet through the stomach, before her killer branded an unknown symbol into her face. Aware that Anais' murder could quickly cause pandemonium, they spoke to her newly married husband, distillery owner Ward Saballine, who claimed that their distillery had been vandalised by a mournful Owen Osborne, though the heir hurriedly dismissed their claims and ordered them to bring his mother's murderers to justice. Back in the foyer, a weary Charity shook off Tobias' request that she lay down and asked for a debrief. Before Sienna could talk, Hope ran in carrying one of Cornelius' machines, claiming she'd been able to trace the caller that reported the murder.

The call came from a farmhouse on the outskirts of the district; there, they found Beaufort hiding out. Despite Beaufort's attempts to flee, Sienna was able to corner and confront him. He explained that since their 'Mayor' outlawed supporting the Rose Movement, he'd been on the run. He ran back to his house for supplies, but then... then he saw his mother like that. Beaufort's eyes welled up, but he blinked back his tears and told them he didn't know anything else. After bringing Beaufort back to the precinct, they questioned mayoral supporter Eustace Kipling, who believed Anais of conspiring with Leblanc, before Sienna nervously spoke to prostitute Reyna de Santos, who Anais was trailing for unknown reasons. Back in the foyer, Tobias told them Charity had been interrogating Beaufort on his involvement in the bombing, and although Beaufort had denied knowing his father's plan, she didn't believe him. Just then, Moira slammed a folder of documents onto the table with her metal arm and exclaimed that she'd identified the symbol branded into Anais' face.

Moira confirmed she'd searched a handful of databases and successfully identified the symbol as the inaugural seal for the Osborne family. With this, they confronted Owen. Owen bitterly claimed that he had no idea why someone would brand that symbol into her face, but suggested the savage movement could be deeming Anais a traitor for divorcing Leblanc. He then apologized for his attitude and admitted his mother's murder had shattered him. Eustace also threatened Anais to reveal where Beaufort was hiding but she refused to say. Anais' loyalty to her son was proven again when it was discovered she was stealing money from the distillery to fund his career; Ward, in retaliation, then began an affair with Reyna, hence why Anais was monitoring her. Reyna then admitted to attacking Anais but told them she thought Anais was some dirty old letch, not a wife with a grudge, and suggested Anais prune her home life. With no leads left to chase, Sienna confessed that she was suspicious of Reyna but declined to say why. After a final search of the crime scenes, Eustace was the killer.

Eustace was confronted along Cranberry Lane, where Sienna eagerly approached with handcuffs. However, Eustace didn't even try to deny the accusations. Instead, he clenched his fist and shouted that Mayor Osborne would bathe his name in glory for killing Anais. Confused by Eustace's crazed demeanour, she demanded he explain, where Eustace decreed that Anais was a sacrificial lamb: a gift to the Osborne family to show his loyalty and to force the Deverauxs to suffer the same pain that the Osborne children felt. Initially, he planned to kill Beaufort. To enact his plan, he trailed Anais and attempt to threaten her into revealing Beaufort's hideout. When she adamantly refused, Eustace had to face the truth: he couldn't find Beaufort... so he had to improvise. A few days later, while Anais was distracted on her morning run to the market, Eustace shot her through the stomach. As the final step in his plan, Eustace posthumously branded Anais with the Osborne seal to symbolise their victory over Genevieve's killers. Startled, the pair took Eustace to the station.

In court, Judge Haddid was shocked by Eustace's callous disregard for human life and shouted that there was no justifying his actions. Eustace countered that he didn't need to justify himself, that the Osbornes would thank him for killing a Deveraux. Misbah quickly quipped that they'd have to do that through prison bars, sentencing Eustace to fifty years imprisonment. As he taken away, Eustace calmly stated that soon the Osbornes would reclaim their city and those who supported them would prosper. The courthouse doors then shut.

---Up in Smoke (2/6)---

Back in the foyer, the team asked if anyone had leads on Marianne's location, prompting Amethyst to turn away shamefully. Before they could speak to her, Ward ran in, claiming that a group of ruffians had raided his distillery. Returning to the distillery, they found one of the metal tanks smashed open. A closer inspection revealed that somebody had been storing items, such as food and supplies, inside the tank to be collected at a later date. Needing to know who had access to the tank, Ward directed them to his employee records which they quickly sent to Hope. A few hours later, Hope was able to reveal that one of Ward's employees, Oliver Pike, was Esteban's brother. The team hurriedly arrested Oliver before his next shift, where he reluctantly admitted to hiding supplies for Esteban. He tearfully swore he had nothing to do with the station bombing; however, his brother had begged him to help and he couldn't say no. Eventually, Oliver admitted he left the supplies for Esteban on Cranberry Lane, where they found his bag alongside a photo of a female patient at Edgewater asylum.

Meanwhile, a panicked Reyna pleaded for the team's help. Sienna swiftly requested Hope accompany the player instead. She claimed that her best friend, fellow prostitute Alana Gaztambide, was working the street corner but didn't return. Hope and the player agreed to search the corner, eventually finding Alana's pantyhose torn and bloodied. Disturbed by their find, Pedro gravely confirmed the blood belonged to Alana. They then returned the sorrowful news to Reyna, who started to sob and professed that Alana wasn't the only missing prostitute - two others had disappeared before her. The pair then promised to find out what happened and bring them home. Afterward, Hope and the player spoke to Sienna and asked why she refused to speak to Reyna. The detective then claimed that Reyna was an old friend but the pair had fallen out abominably.

With all said and done, the team readied to chase the leads they had uncovered. Despite Sienna's insistence that they needed to investigate the missing prostitutes, Charity stated that they had no tangible leads to follow and that they needed to get ahead of the bombers by heading to Edgewater at first light.

However, before then, a few more chips had to fall. Tobias went to see Beaufort in his holding cell to give him his supper. The young journalist claimed that Tobias was a reasonable man and asked him to let him go, telling Tobias that the outlawing of the Rose Movement was totalitarian. Tobias, however, stayed silent as he left the room. Meanwhile, Amethyst, filled with rage and grief at Gabriel's actions, stared at the boat Marianne was hiding on. As Amethyst sat, watching the boat bob up and down, she snapped. In the coming minutes, Amethyst would make an anonymous call to Mayor Osborne and reveal Marianne's hideout. In less than an hour, Hugo's forces would swarm the boat, grabbing and handcuffing a frightful Marianne, parading her through the streets to humiliate her as her supporters watched her writhe in shackles. The leader of the movement had fallen and, as Hugo watched her arrest, he was determined the rest of the movement would fall with her.
