—Case Teaser

Asking For Too Much is a case featured in Criminal Case as the one-hundred and seventy-first case of the game. It is the fifty-sixth case of The Mystery and the fourth case in Beverly Boulevard.

After Erika tracked down bon vivant Harris Mitchell’s whereabouts to a local sauna according to his social media, Diana and the player headed there hoping to interrogate the bon vivant. However, after the duo arrived, they were horrified to discover Harris’s body in a sauna, his skin cold as ice due to the water being frozen. Per Ethan’s autopsy, he revealed that the killer somehow turned the heat of the sauna to pure cold temperatures, causing the victim, who had been knocked out, to die of hypothermia. They then suspected sauna owner Alesandro Costas (who had received parole on a plea deal), Leigh’s fiancé and animal shelter owner Erik Huntington and British actor Connor Thompson in the chilling crime. Soon after, the detectives then discovered that their victim had been seen at a park hours before his death, walking with someone.

After they discovered the fact that the victim was at the park, the detectives headed there where they discovered clues to add newly acquired mansion owner and former maid Geneviève Laroche as well as the city’s mayor, Leonard Oakley, to the suspect roster. They then discovered that Harris wanted Alesandro back in jail due to believing that Alesandro would lash out and kill again. They also learned that the victim had humiliated Connor on live television, which caused the actor to commit to getting revenge on the rich kid. Later in the investigation, as the duo was discussing the case, someone ran by them and then shoved the detectives to the side, causing Diana to stumble and fall into one of the sauna pools.

After Diana was submerged into one of the pools, the player quickly looked around to see what happened, only to see someone flee the scene. Diana was then tended to by Fleur Barton and Bianca Wilson while Chief Tempest assigned Major to the case to finish it off. They then found evidence that Erik waged revenge on Harris after he ran over a service dog and Harris angered Mayor Oakley after ignoring him and continuing his loud parties despite neighbour complaints of his disruptive behaviour. They also found out that Harris attempted to make ludicrous purchases and gifts for Geneviève, which only creeped the mansion owner as she then proceeded to make a restraining order on the victim. Afterwards, Major and the player then discovered all the evidence they needed to arrest Connor Thompson for the murder.

Connor quickly confessed to the murder after the detectives asked him about the victim tarnishing his reputation, telling them that the victim had betrayed him when he bought the treasure for him. Connor then confessed that the last hopes of his reputation laid in his ancestry to the original pirate captain that buried the same treasure. He then told them that after finding the fact that the treasure was going to be auctioned off at the auction gala, he pleaded the victim to help him bid for the treasure in order to gain the treasure and restore his former glory as an actor related to the pirate captain and hoping to get cast as a pirate in the upcoming Pirates of the Atlantic film series. However when he found Harris at the estate, he discovered that the victim was using the treasure for his own use, even drinking wine from a golden chalice. Angered by Harris’s carelessness of the precious artifacts, he then schemed a plan to prove that Harris was cold hearted, knocking him out and freezing him in a sauna pool. He also confessed to pushing Diana into the same pool to try to stall the team while he attempted to steal the treasure from Harris’s estate. Major then arrested Connor and sent him to trial, where Judge Brighton found it suitable to sentence Connor to fifty years for the murder, attempted robbery and the attack of a police officer.

After Connor’s arrest, the detectives then returned to question Connor in his prison cell. After Major and the player finally agreed to appeal to Judge Brighton that Connor was allowed to have a small television in his cell, Connor then told them that he had stolen Harris’s keys to his estate but had lost it in the sauna when he was trying to slow them down by pushing Diana. They then searched the sauna and discovered the keys in the sauna’s supply cart, sending the ring of keys for Erika to identify in the lab. Erika then told the team that she discovered the key for the safe that contained the treasure, but it also needed a passcode. They then talked to Alesandro, who told them that he overheard Harris boasting about a treasure in the spa, prompting them to find Harris’s phone, which Erika discovered the safe’s passcode behind a locked passcode keeping app on the phone. Major and the player then headed to the estate and recovered the pirate’s treasure at last, Major then giving the idea of sending it to Memorial Avenue’s museum as part of the restoration. They then went and asked Geneviève to help with the museum and she agreed, promising that she would help the downfallen and trodden of the city.

Meanwhile, Erik came to the precinct to tell them that a bunch of shelter dogs he was taking out for a walk had gone missing while he was purchasing a hot dog from a vendor. Chief Tempest then overheard the incident and lectured Erik for his carelessness before insisting that she investigate with the player. They then headed to the Beverly Boulevard park where they found a pile of dog leashes and discovered a tracking device in the pile attached to one of the dogs’ labels. They then sent the tracker to Erika, who told them that the tracker was scrambled and that she could not decipher the exact location of where the tracking device was tracking the dogs from. Leigh then start to wring her ponytail, asking herself why everything was falling apart even though they were so close. The player and the chief then headed to inform Shawn Barlow, who noticed the Chief’s stressed exterior and reminded her that in order to be a true Chief of Police, she needed to be patient and a hard working justice enforcer. Leigh then realized her mistakes and then thanked Shawn for helping her see things before she then went to her fiancé and apologized to him for the lecture. Leigh’s apology then prompted Erik to unabashedly confess that he was a bit distracted and promised to be more careful with the dogs under the circumstances of the kidnappings. The duo then hugged each other and shared a sweet kiss.

After all the events, the player, Major and Chief Tempest were discussing the case, their success in finding the treasure and their discoveries on the missing dogs. Shortly after, Diego came in a panic, telling them to check the news, which showed that the local dam had broke open due to damage from the previous earthquake and a flood was striking the Boulevard!
