A Close Shave is a case featured in Criminal Case, it appears as the thirty-first case in A World Forgotten and the two hundred and twentieth overall. It takes place as the first case in the Crown Plaza district of Ravenedge.
Plot[]
Following the discovery that an anonymous figure forced the Blackwood family into creating Lady Nightshade, the team hurried to Crown Plaza, the commercial district of Ravenedge, to investigate. As tensions become worse between the two sides, Charity received word of a murder behind bars. They hurried there, where the prison warden directed them to the hair-cutting station on site. There, in one of the chairs, with her head half-severed off... was prisoner Louise Blantyre. After bagging her body, Moira revealed slices to the neck killed Louise, per her autopsy. Afterwards, they spoke to prison warden Rory McDonough, before questioning imprisoned assassin Jack Crawford and newspaper boy Alfie Harwell, who had sneaked into the prison on a dare. Later, back in the foyer, Cornelius and police hopeful Isabella Sinclaire revealed one of the prisoners had information on Louise's death, but they wouldn't like who it was.
Isabella then revealed the victim's cellmate Ida Stanbury requested to speak to them. The mass murderer, who arranged a series of bombings in Westfall, revealed Louise had been acting erratic and knew "she was to die". After questioning Ida, they went on to suspect prisoner barber Franky Lewis. Afterwards, they discovered Jack was arranging a prison breakout, which Louise demanded to be involved in so she can further the movement. Furthermore, the mayoral documents Louise leaked exposed Rory's brother, who ultimately killed himself. Later, as Amethyst blushed about Gabriel Rose, Draco insisted a crowd of movement supports were outside the jail rioting. They hurried to the rioting crowd, where they demanded justice for Louise, labelling her as a martyr. As the crowd refused to stop, Sienna was forced to fire her gun in the air. She then told the crowd they'd find Louise's killer but ordered the protest to stop. They then discovered Louise wanted more radical ideas for the movement to use, asking Ina for help arranging an attack, and that Franky had been paid to monitor imprisoned movement members by an unknown source. Eventually, they discovered the killer to be Ida.
They confronted Ida, who, after acting innocent, cracked, confessing to killing Louise. She revealed Louise was a dear friend, one she never wanted to hurt, but she'd been ordered by a figure outside the prison to kill Louise "to kill the revolution", otherwise her son's homosexual affair would be exposed. Knowing she had to stop her son's life from being ruined, Ida gave into the blackmail, crafting a shiv from toiletries and approaching Louise when Franky was busy. She then told her what had happened, and Louise agreed to die, but made Ida promise to make her a martyr. Ida agreed, and slit her throat violently, to make Louise seem like a martyr. Judge Haddid then ordered Ida to be held in solitary confinement, while also demanding tighter security on what messages came in and out of the prison. Outside the court, a baffled Sienna surmised that the same blackmailer who ordered the Blackwoods into creating Lady Nightshade had also blackmailed Ida into killing Louise. Knowing a figure wanted to "kill the revolution" and was worsening, they began investigating.
Knowing they had to investigate the blackmailer, they spoke to Rory once more, who offered them an opportunity to search through the prison mail which was left in a locked box in the yard. The player, Isabella, and Lawrence returned to the yard, eventually finding the box. After the player cracked the padlock, they and Isabella searched the contents, eventually finding the mail and sending it to Hope. Per Hope, it was revealed the handwriting on the messages left for Ina matched threats made to Franky. Franky then confessed he too had paid to monitor the Rose Movement prisoners, as they'd discovered earlier, but after taking the payment, had been blackmailed into continuing. He insisted the blackmailer was hellbent on killing the revolution and everyone in it, saying they would stop at nothing to destroy the Rose Movement.
Meanwhile, Sienna called from a phone box, insisting a crowd of movement supporters had surrounded her. They hurried to the barber shop, finding movement supporters labelling her a figurehead of the revolution, due to her petition against Mayor Osborne. After dispersing the crowd, Sienna insisted on going through with the petition to Antonio, telling him she couldn't stand and watch families be broken and displaced by Mayor Osborne. They then returned to speak to Alfie, who had been left orphaned after his father committed suicide following the destruction of Slipknot's Way. After recovering photos of Alfie's father by the cells, they gave them to Alfie, who thanked them and agreed to join her petition. He then insisted he'd help any way he could, for his father.
Back at the foyer, Charity warned Sienna about the movement's continued support for her actions against Mayor Osborne. Tobias then revealed a message had been left on a city monument, telling the citizens to "kill the revolution!". They then found evidence Franky was responsible, though he insisted he was blackmailed into leaving the message. A day later, Sienna revealed the day had finally come for her to argue her petition in court against Mayor Osborne, expecting a day of tension between the two sides of Ravenedge.
